Okay, so I’ve been grinding away at Destiny 2’s Crucible Competitive playlist, trying to see how high I could climb. It’s a real test of skill, and I wanted to document my journey, mostly to see if I was actually improving, or if it was just luck.
Getting Started
First, I had to, you know, actually play the Competitive mode. I jumped in solo, figuring that was the purest test. No carrying, no getting carried, just me and my trusty weapons against the world.

I started out, like everyone, in the Copper ranks. Pretty easy going at first, won a few, lost a few, nothing too crazy. I was mostly just trying to get a feel for the maps and modes again, since I hadn’t played Comp seriously in a while.
The Climb Begins
After Copper, I moved up to Bronze. Still pretty manageable. I was starting to notice some patterns, like which weapons were dominating, and which subclasses people were leaning towards. I made some adjustments to my own loadout, trying to counter what I was seeing. Started running with a pulse rifle and a shotgun, classic combo.
- Bronze: Feeling good, starting to warm up.
Silver and Gold
Silver was where things got a bit more challenging. I had to start really paying attention to my positioning and teamwork. Can’t just run and gun anymore. I started using my microphone more, calling out enemy locations, coordinating with my teammates. It made a huge difference.
- Silver: Teamwork is key. Comms are essential.
Gold was a real grind. Lots of back and forth. Win one, lose one. Win two, lose two. I felt like I was stuck. This is where I started to really analyze my gameplay. Watched some videos of top players, tried to mimic their strategies. Realized I was being too aggressive sometimes, and too passive other times. Finding that balance was tough.
- Gold: The real test. Had to refine my playstyle.
Pushing Higher
Somehow, I managed to break through Gold and hit Platinum. Wow, the competition got fierce. Everyone was good. Every shot mattered. Every mistake was punished. I had to stay focused, keep communicating, and really work with my team. It was exhausting, but also exhilarating.
- Platinum: The air is getting thin. Every match is a sweat-fest.
Adept and Ascendant
Hitting Adept, it’s more of a crazy experience. Then the very top is Ascendant. I’m still trying to get better at reaching higher, but I’m so proud of my current improvement! To be honest, I’m a very normal player, not that good. So if I can do it, I think lots of players can also do it.

- Adept and Ascendant: This is the peak. Don’t think I can do it, but I’m so happy that I can get this.
So, that’s my journey through Crucible Comp so far. It’s been a wild ride, full of ups and downs, frustrations and triumphs. I have learned so much about the game and my self. Hope you can do it too!
